Maths & ICT Blog
October 2011
Here in the Faculty we have had another year of extremely encouraging examination results at Key Stage 4.
In ICT there has been a 100% pass rate in the Key Stage 4 course, and a 100 % success rate at Key Stage 5 in the sixth form.
Within Maths, we achieved our highest ever number of top grade passes at GCSE, with 10% of last year’s cohort achieving A* or A grades in their exam. 56% of our students achieved an A*-C grade, and 100% of students achieved an A* - G grade.
The current year 11 students are currently extremely busy, preparing for their November GCSE exam in Maths, and we are going to extreme lengths in the department in order to support our students, with study support running every week, a half term class and a Saturday class all being offered for the first time!

Hello and welcome to our first Maths and ICT blog!
We are coming to the close of a very busy term, not least due to the GCSE exams that have just been completed. Fingers crossed for the results in August!
In the November exams, we were particularly successful at the top end of the scale in GCSE Maths, with 4 A* and 11 A grades being achieved.
There has also been Key Stage 3 success at both local and national level, with successes in the Sandwell schools Maths Olympiad, and the United Kingdom Junior Maths Challenge.
Please make sure you check out this blog in the new term, for full details of our Study Support and Intervention Programmes.
Whilst on a celebratory note, we would like to congratulate the ICT department on achieving a 100% pass rate in the OCR National course, with some students exceeding expectations and gaining 3 or 4 GCSE equivalents in ICT.
Two post 16 students have gained places at University as a direct result of their ICT studies.
On a technical note, three ICT classrooms are being refurbished with brand new machines installed, in fact the whole academy has had new Windows and Office software installed.
